1D Motion
This page should contain helpful hand outs and information concerning the first unit.
Reinforcment sheet: This sheet has all of the objectives and reinforcements that can help you master the topic.
Practice Packet: Here is a list of the textbook problems as well as many other important practice problems. Some will be completed in class and some will be done as homework. The textbook problems are optional but suggested for additional practice. The answers will be posted on this page shortly. Getting to Know Physics: On the first day of class we will be playing with physics and discovering what it has to offer. If you have lost your handout you can get one here. Getting to Know Physics SURVERY: The button to the right is a direct link to the required survey that you should take after we have completed all of the demos and the stations in class. Use your power of observation and critical thinking skills to answer the questions. Learning Logger Pro: This year we are going to using a program called logger pro in our classroom to help us obtain data in our labs. This lab will walk us through some of the features of logger pro as we experiment with the way we walk. The video below will explain how to set up the lab and some of the important portions of the lab. The file to the right gives a screen shot of the computer. CLICK HERE to go directly to youtube to watch the video. This will allow you to view the video on full screen. |

Speeders vs. Accelerators Lab: This lab will build upon our knowledge of logger pro as we create the graphs of a speeder and of an accelerator. Note that there is a prelab that also goes with this lab.
Rollerblader Problem: To practice graphing some one dimensional motion we will graph how a rollerblader moves. Use this as practice before we start to use one type of graph to tell us more information about other types of graphs. Graphing Half Slip: This what we did in class. I have attached an answer sheet for you to help yourself check your work.
Practice Problems 1-D Motion Packet: This packet will contain problems for the entirity of the unit. Make sure to listen for when something has been assigned and complete only what is necessary. Some problems may be assigned as additional review :) (Note pg. 2 of the answers is before pg 1) Graphing Practice: This is the answer page for the worksheet we completed in class. It will help you go between all three types of graphs. Answers to the Practice Multiple Choice: 19. b (take the total distance travelled 40 m and divide by the total time) 20. c 21. d 22. d 23. a 24. a 28. a 29. d |

How to solve a physics problem: The video below explains where we get our first two equations and then how to solve any physics problem. You should definitely take notes. I recommend that you head to the link HERE so that you can view a full screen version.
