Circular Motion
Centripetal Force Equation #1 Videos
By the end of these three videos you should be able to answer the following questions:
1. What is the equation for centripetal force?
2. In which direction does centripetal force point?
3. Why is centrifugal force considered the f-word in physics?
4. After watching the example problem try to calculate what the force would be if it took half the time to go through the merry go round. Aka the problem would now read: A merry go round takes 15 seconds to circle once. It has a radius of 3.2 m. If a child has a mass of 16 kg what from the merry go round does the child feel?
5. Draw the free body diagram of the cup at the bottom of the swing. What did we calculate for the normal force?

Centripetal Force Equation #2 Videos
In these videos we will explore another equation that we can use for centripetal force. This equation will involve velocity instead of period because there are times that we talk about how fast it takes someone to move around in a circle rather than how long it takes for them to complete one circle.
Take notes as you watch the videos and we will go over the practice problems tomorrow in class.
